I was lucky enough to catch the Wildlife Art Society of Australasia's Wild Awards 2018 at Burrinja Cultural Centre in Upwey before it ended. My favourite pieces were of Australian wildlife but there were also pictures of the big cats, meerkats and hippos among others.
The pictures were stunning - I can't believe people can paint something so real it felt like I could reach out and stroke the fur or feel the feathers on the birds and animals.
I went with my daughters and parents. It was a happy accident as we were there to see something else and wandered into the exhibition while waiting. We had a lot of fun looking at all the art and deciding which pictures we would award with prizes. Our selections were very different from the judges and we had a great conversation about personal taste and techniques. Which pieces are your favourites?
