And I Can't Imagine
Flashback to my first book of poetry, Defenestration, published in 1997. Now back in print.

Ever since I learnt to read, I wanted to be a writer. When I was a kid I would write and illustrate my own stories. I'd make them into books and try to make them look like the ones I borrowed from the library. Not much has changed since then.
I’ve had a go at writing novels, inspired by my favourite authors. There was my detective fiction phase in late high school inspired by Dirk Gently’s Holistic Agency by Douglas Adams. There was a very brief romance phase when I attempted writing my own teen formulaic romance. I managed a page and a half for the whole story and ended up with a lot of respect for all writing - even the stuff that is bad is really hard to write!
